What do ecology, ecumenism and economics have in common? All three words derive from the Greek word oikos, meaning “house.” There are many sorts of houses in the world, actual and metaphorical. One house accommodates this, another that. But what if all of these houses were discovered to be rooms within a single planetary house, a house of “many mansions?”

Such a house would transcend the walls that separate art, science, religion, culture, politics, etc. It would contain the whole human experience. Its very architecture would define what we mean when we speak of wisdom.

The purpose of Seven Pillars House of Wisdom is to be a small but representative exemplar of this universal house.  Both Seven Pillars and the larger house it represents are works-in-progress. Our work is a labor of love—specifically, love of wisdom (philo sophia).

We hope you will join us to further explore what it means to build a house with no walls, within ourselves, within Seven Pillars and within the larger global society.
